Email data loss [ download now ]
Many information managers will be familiar with data loss but this will commonly be associated with isolated incidents such as where:
a) people leave briefcases on trains
b) people have their laptops stolen; or
c) incoming emails have viruses or disabling code which damages the organisation’s computer systems (including deleting or altering data).
However, although policies may exist to prevent the incidents in a, b and c (for example catering for c with firewalls), there is far less of a focus on outgoing email.
