User Group Event is a Success Despite the Ash Cloud!
Although many couldn’t make it due to a certain Icelandic Volcano, the user group event on 21 April went extremely well. Read more.

Building on feedback we’d received from the previous event, the event was much longer which allowed the addition of two demos and a much longer Q&A session.

The event took place in a conference room with a fantastic view of London in the Brewin Dolphin office which was kindly offered to us by fellow user group member, Chris Powell. I think everyone enjoyed the inclusion of a lengthy lunch break which allowed plenty of time to network and bend the ears of the Symantec experts present!

IT Management Suite was the central focus of this particular event with the first presentation given by Greg Slade, Symantec EMEA Regional Product
Manager. This was followed by an ITMS demo from Codework’s Senior Pre-Sales Consultant, Phill Woon. After the break, Tony Bambury from Symantec presented the second ITMS demo focusing on the Asset Management aspect. The final presentation was delivered by Managing Principal (Symantec), Paul Butler on the subject of upgrade considerations from Version 6 to Version 7.

Following lunch, there was to a be a presentation by Ian Atkin from Oxford University serving as the first presentation on end-user experience. Unfortunately, he was living it up in Las Vegas thanks to the pesky volcanic ash cloud and couldn’t attend. Hopefully, he will be able to deliver this presentation at the next user group event.

Instead, our panel of Symantec experts (plus Phill Woon from Codework) had more time to answer questions from the users in what many users consider to be the most useful aspect of these events - the Q&A session. (Please note: frantic but detailed notes were made in this session which will be typed up and posted on the user group site for your benefit shortly!)

Nestled amongst other priceless gems in the goody bags at the event were USB sticks with all the presentations on them. However, if you were unable to attend the event and would like to be sent the presentations, please email info@altirisusergroup.com and we’ll be happy to oblige!

All in all, it was another great event and plans are being made as we speak for the next one which is currently scheduled for the first week of July. More details of this will be revealed soon so keep your eyes on the user group site.

I would like to say a huge thank you to all the speakers at the event whose insight into the world of Altiris is invaluble. And finally, thank you to Chris Powell at Brewin Dolphin who was an enormous help.
